Frequently Asked Questions

Keep in mind that an eye exam is not only to check your vision but also to check the general health of the eye and can be an early detector for other health problems including Hypertension, High Cholesterol and Diabetes.
It is recommended that you get an eye exam once a year. If you feel that your vision has changed it may be necessary for more frequent visits.
Every insurance plan offers different vision benefits. The best thing to do is call the office with your insurance information and check your individual eligibility.
Every insurance plan has different coverage limits and requires different copays.
If you choose glasses or lenses that are valued higher than your plan allows, typically you will pay the difference. Some plans will offer a discount on the difference and other plans like Florida Medicaid do not allow upgrades through the plan benefits.
Contact lenses require a special fitting and may not work for every prescription. If the doctor feels that contact will work for you there will be an extra charge for fitting the contacts.
A contact lens exam includes a perscription for glasses and also a perscription and fitting for contact lenses. The exam also includes one free trial pair of lenses and a follow-up visit to make sure the lenses work for you.
Within 30 days of your order only unopened contact lens vials or boxes may be returned or exchanged.
The duration of a contact lens depends not only on the specs of the manufacturer, but also how it is being worn. Some lenses are good only for one day, others will last two weeks, and some can be kept for a year at a time with the proper care.
It is never recommended that you sleep with your contact lenses. However, the FDA has approved certain specific contact lenses for overnight extended wear. In general, lenses should be removed each night and placed in clean solution ready to be worn the next day.
